One point worth mentioning, if you click on a track that is not record enabled, it will become record enabled, and all the others will be turned off.
Simple: you have to make the selected tracks 'record-ready' by pressing the left button in the Instrument Window until it turns red. The record button is part of the strip that also shows a speaker icon, a headphone icon, a lock icon, etc.
